I am here, I am safe
A quilted wall hanging featuring a heart, a hand, a moon, and a sun. I made this piece for myself to hang in my home in San Francisco, where it has hung for the past two years. But now, it feels like it is time to give it a new home. This piece is meant to represent the safety and comfort that can exist within our own bodies and in the present moment, that all we have is here and now and there can be stability in that knowledge. We have hands that can make things and touch and hold, we have hearts that keep us alive and hearts that can love and feel.
30” x 40”
Materials: linen fabric, cotton batting, cotton thread, wood dowel and cotton rope for hanging
This wall quilt is made of fabric scraps - little leftover pieces from other projects that are too small to be used for other clothes. Fabric scraps that could have very easily ended up in the trash. But instead, they are joined together to make something beautiful. A little reminder, that every little thing can be, and often is, part of something bigger and beautiful. And for me, and maybe for you too, a gentle reminder that even if I feel like a useless little scrap, I too am part of something bigger and beautiful that I might not be able to see yet.
