How to Make Your Own Thread + Sprout Kerchiefs
Introducing the “How to Make Your Own Thread + Sprout Kerchiefs” Tutorial Bundle!
This tutorial bundle includes two tutorials: how to make a Nature Kerchief and how to make a Scrappy Patchy Kerchief.
A Nature Kerchief is a triangular kerchief made with curved colorblocking to look like hills, flowing mist, waves of ocean, layers of soil, or whatever else you have in mind. A Scrappy Patchy Kerchief is a triangular kerchief made with small scrap patchwork piecing. Both of these are really great scrap busting projects. I, Justice, love to wear kerchiefs every day to add some fun color or detail to an outfit, to keep my neck warm, to cover a stain on my shirt, or to feel like a rootin tootin cowboy!
This tutorial will teach you how to make a template and pattern for a triangular kerchief that measures about 21-22” along the top. However, you can really make the kerchief in whatever size you want. Please note, this tutorial does not include a pattern but will teach you how to make your own!
Please find more information below :)

While sewing the basic kerchief is pretty beginner-friendly, sewing curved lines can be tricky. I recommend anyone who wants to, to try it out but be patient with yourself and know that it may take a few tries :)
-
A light to mid-weight woven fabric like cotton or linen works best. This is a great project to use up smaller fabric remnants and scraps.
-
Two videos of me walking through the steps to make the two different kinds of kerchiefs
Two PDFs of the written instructions

After purchasing, you will receive an email with a link to download the PDFs and links to the videos.
