purple hour

A quilted wall hanging made of linen and cotton thread inspired by the view outside my studio window looking out at the bay and Oakland Hills during twilight when I’m sitting at my sewing machine, working late. The sky is filled with the most delectable pinks and lilacs, the hills are a deep rich purple and the bay is flowing with indigos and teals…the stars are starting to twinkle and the moon making her appearance.

Size: 30” x 43.5”
Materials: linen fabric, cotton batting, cotton thread, wood dowel for hanging

This wall quilt is made of fabric scraps - little leftover pieces from other projects that are too small to be used for other clothes. Fabric scraps that could have very easily ended up in the trash. But instead, they are joined together to make something beautiful. A little reminder, that every little thing can be, and often is, part of something bigger and beautiful. And for me, and maybe for you too, a gentle reminder that even if I feel like a useless little scrap, I too am part of something bigger and beautiful that I might not be able to see yet.
